WHITE CLAW PALOMAS are bright, tart, zippy cocktails that are a cross between Greyhounds and margaritas for a unique spin on a favorite Mexican cocktail! The White Claw sends these over the top! Have you ever tried a Paloma? It’s a grapefruit spin on a margarita and it is fantastic in these White Claw Palomas! Really tart and bright, these refreshing sippers will be the star of your next fiesta!

White Claw Week continues with more tequila, because apparently I didn’t get enough tequila from Monday. I don’t even like tequila and here I am, slinging tequila drinks like I’m tequila’s latest ambassador (I’m not but like, hit me up, Mexico).

When I was coming up with recipes for WCW (yep, we’re acronym-ing now) I was trying to think of drinks I haven’t tried before but have been curious about, and a Paloma was definitely on the list. I figured since I had so much luck with my Margarita Spritzer from Monday that I may like a new spin by way of the Paloma.

Palomas are a very popular drink across Mexico and they’re like the middle sibling between margaritas and Greyhounds. Whereas margs have lime juice, Palomas use grapefruit juice or soda like a Greyhound would… but tequila as the liquor like a margarita would. A lot of the times, Palomas are made with grapefruit soda like Fresca or Squirt, but since there is carbonation from White Claws, that would act as my “soda” in this recipe!

The grapefruit flavor also comes from grapefruit juice, which you can buy bottled at the store, often on the juice or alcohol mixers aisles. You could also juice some fresh grapefruits buttttt that’s not my jam so if it is yours, by all means. To be honest, grapefruit is my least favorite fruit (I know!) so I wasn’t sure if I was going to be too keen on these… but they’re great!

I’m normally NOT a sour lover. I shudder in the face of sour Skittles, or Sour Patch Kids, or anything with that white coating of DEATH on perfectly edible candy. So grapefruits and I avoid each other like awkward exes at a party. What I like about these White Claw Palomas are that you can totally adjust the sweetness to your preference. As the recipe states, they are more on the tart and sour-ish side, but I added in some more simple syrup (or agave!) and they were tolerable for me. However, when I had some friends sample these, they enjoyed the original version!

Bright, zippy, tart, refreshing… meet your new fave drink, the Paloma!
