When I say the term “hot-button issues”, what do you think of? Maybe, war on terrorism? Gun control? Legalizing certain drugs?
But do you ever think of “spectacles: on or off”? Because apparently it’s the latest controversial topic to sweep my OkCupid inbox.
You see, on OkCupid I have a couple profile pictures. Of the 5, 4 of them are of me WITH my glasses on (since my glasses are on my face pretty much every waking moment) and one photo without my glasses because it’s a cute picture.
And there seems to be a growing population of men on OkCupid who think it’s a great idea to email me and tell me how much better I look without my glasses. SO MANY GUYS emailed me regarding their opinion on this non-issue that I actually had to put in my profile “please don’t email me telling me how much better I look without my glasses, because I never asked for your lame-ass opinion.”
So then, I get an email from an interesting-looking fellow who writes me, “Wow, someone would actually tell you that you look better without your glasses? I think you look SO much better WITH your glasses on than without them!!”
Um. Thank you?
Since that fateful email reassuring me that I am drop-dead gorgeous with my glasses on but a hideous gremlin with them off, I have still received several emails of guys feigning mock-horror that someone told me I look better without my glasses and don’t you know you look great with your glasses on? WHY ARE THE GLASSES EVEN IN QUESTION?
If you don’t like a girl who wears glasses, don’t message me. If you only like girls who wear glasses, don’t message me. If you think I’m pretty or cool regardless of whether or not I’m blind as a bat in daylight than yeah, you can message me. But sending me emails giving me your unwarranted opinion on the matter of my facial accessories is just… no.
Another something I don’t want your negative opinion on? These No-Bake Muddy Buddy Cookies… only because they’re impossible not to enjoy! Everyone will love these crunchy, creamy, delicious cookies that are made in minutes and are only four ingredients — stuff you probably have on hand right now!
But, if I may go out on a limb and say… they look better in your face than on the plate. Just sayin’ 🙂
- 1 sleeve Ritz crackers
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 pkg chocolate Candiquik
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and place the crackers onto the foil sheet in an even layer; set aside.
- Spoon the peanut butter into a piping bag attached with a medium-sized open circle tip, or in a Ziploc with a corner snipped off. Pipe teaspoon-sized dollops of peanut butter onto the tops of the crackers until all the crackers are covered with PB. Smooth out the tops of the peanut butter using your finger or a small knife.
- Freeze the crackers for about 20 minutes, or until firm. Meanwhile, prepare the Candiquik according to package directions. Once the cookies have frozen, dip the cookies into the Candiquik to coat completely, allowing excess coating to drip off. Place the wet cookies onto the baking sheet and repeat.
- Once the chocolate has set or mostly set, place the powdered sugar into a large gallon-sized zip-top bag. Drop in about 10 cookies at a time, seal the bag, and gently shake the bag to coat the cookies in the powdered sugar. Serve!

Have a delicious day!!
xo, Hayley

I was waiting for the bus to go home and this lady waiting next to me told me I was really pretty but I would be beautiful if I didn’t wear my glasses. I tried to tell her that I really needed them to see but she just kept telling me that that’s probably why I don’t have a boyfriend.. I didn’t even know the lady! (and I do have a bf lol)
I love muddy buddies! I make them every Christmas, but these look so awesome, I might just start making these ask the time

Elizabeth, OMG! What the hell? Why do people think that’s a compliment? Hahaha.

OMG! I CANNOT wait to try these! I’ve made Puppy Chow for years, and loved every crumb, but these sound so much better. I’ll be enjoying these in no time.
Oh, I didn’t see the pic of you with your glasses on but I would dare to say that those who would comment negatively to you about your looks with them on are probably just envious! What matters is how YOU feel.
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
Muddy buddies…cookies…I’m in heaven. And screw those idiots. You look fab no matter what you’ve got on your face! Pinned and shared on FB 🙂

thedomesticrebel says
Sandra, you’re so sweet – thank you!
Shelby H. says
Yummm! I can’t wait to try these and I don’t even have to go to the store bc I have all the ingredients on hand! One quick question…could I use milk chocolate chips instead of candiquik stuff?!
thedomesticrebel says
Shelby – yes! Absolutely. Just melt them low and slow. Chocolate chips are more prone to seizing than CandiQuik is, so if you melt them on a lower temp and slower, you’ll be fine 🙂
