Do you ever feel like people just don’t get you?
Like, say, if you had this really cute, fun blog on the interwebs and had like, a TON of cool internet friends you were always baking for and SOMEONE in your family decided to EAT some of your ingredients so you couldn’t make what you’d wanted to?
Yeah, it’s only quality invisible friendships and world domination I’m trying to achieve, family. Thanks for eating my Reese’s Pieces.
Or like when you tell someone you have a food blog and you post recipes six days a flippin’ week and someone says “OH MY GOSH, you’re just like Rachael Ray!!” and you’re like “Rachael Ray does not have a food blog. She hosts a TV show and has a magazine and shows on Food Network. I am definitely not like Rachael Ray” and they temporarily lose hearing and continue to tell you how much you’re just like someone you’re not at all like.
Or like when some drunk dude comes up to you at a bar and is like “HOLY SH*T you look JUST LIKE Kat Von D” and you’re like “are you serious right now? I look nothing like Kat Von D” and drunk dude is like, “no, you really look just like Kat Von D. I want a picture with you” and you’re thinking, just because I am a female with all of THREE tattoos does not constitute my looking like a tatted woman on TV.
(Though I guess it beats the one lone time I was told I looked like Lindsay Lohan. Seriously, LiLo? I’d rather they told me I looked just like Ozzy Osbourne).
People just don’t get it, you know? And it’s about damn time they do. Hopefully some Chocolate Peanut Butter 7-Layer Bars will make it click for them. Or send them straight to a sugar coma. Whatever comes first.
These bars are unrelentingly gooey and rich and topped with a multitude of delicious ingredients sure to send your belly to its happy place.
Or, if you’re me, hoping they’ll send you to TV so you can maybe actually start being/looking like Rach or Kat. Whatevz.
1 box Devil’s food cake mix
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup coarsely crushed pretzels
1 cup peanut butter chips
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup Reese’s Pieces
1 cup honey roasted peanuts
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Liberally grease a 13×9 inch baking pan with cooking spray; set aside.
2. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, egg and butter. Stir in the crushed pretzels. Spread the mixture evenly along the bottom of the greased pan and bake for about 8 minutes.
3. Sprinkle the par-baked bars with the peanut butter chips, chocolate chips, Reese’s Pieces and peanuts. Drizzle the top of the bars with the milk. Return to the oven for an additional 15 minutes or until golden and bubbly, and center is set.
4. Cool completely before cutting into bars. Serve warm or at room temperature. Best served within 1-2 days.
I love love love! these bars! They’re so fudgy and rich–and totally screaming your name if you’re a sweet & salty fan like myself. The bottom is almost cake-y but still has a lot of ooey gooey fudgy action going on, and I love the addition of the honey roasted peanuts… simply irresistible!
And okay, I maybe kinda look like Kat Von D.
