Calling all Sagittarians! This Red Bull Piña Cocojito is the perfect drink to represent the restless, party-hard, travel-obsessed Sagittarius in my Zodiac Cocktail Series! Made with Red Bull, coconut rum and pineapple juice, this tropical twist on a mojito is a must make!

Hello, and welcome to Sagittarius Season!

You can celebrate Sagittarius season by: having a joke for every occasion; appreciating the little things in life; being brutally honest; always getting in the last word; always looking to escape to a faraway destination or start a new life somewhere different; acting like nothing happened and never bringing it up again; one-upping conversations both accidentally and on purpose; self-sabotaging; being afraid to commit fully just in case something better comes along; starting drama because you’re bored; having optimistic idealism that everything will work out; and having an expansive knowledge about many things and a desire to learn more.

Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign – ‘mutable’ associating with change, restlessness and adjustment, and ‘fire’ meaning impulsive, energetic, and quick tempered. Represented by a centaur – half-man, half-horse) they are lovers of travel, knowledge, and nature. Sags seek out the truth in everything so they can pass their knowledge and wisdom to others – after all, Sagittarius is a natural teacher and philosopher and their sign is represented by knowledge. The ultimate goal for a Sagittarian is to know as much about a variety of different subjects as possible.

However, this quest for knowledge can turn sour, as Sagittarians are incredibly blunt, sometimes to the point of not caring about who’s feelings may be hurt in the process. Adamant about the truth, they may cut you off if they think you’re lying and shut you down with a hefty dose of that fire sign energy. Never expect a Sag to apologize for being brutally honest or even annoying about confronting someone to get to the truth.

Typically, Sagittarian men and women enjoy taking risks; pursuing learning, teaching and studying; says exactly what’s on their mind; is witty and charming with words – and are known for their jokes, some of which may veer into “dad joke” territory but always gain laughter; has a good fact-checking memory; absolutely NEEDS freedom in almost all aspects of their life, including relationships; is kindhearted sometimes, although can be quite tactless; is able to laugh about their misfortunes/self-deprecating; can be sharply sarcastic to the point of annoying; tends to not be able to read a room when voicing their opinion; and can have a fiery temper and strike out when hurt.

When expressed positively, Sagittarians are stimulating, inspiring, optimistic and enthusiastic, honest and fair, spiritual and looking to nature for guidance, frank and open, adventurous travel-lovers always looking for a little escape, forgiving and quick to forget, and generous.

However, expressed negatively, Sagittarius can be too feisty and impatient, careless and tactless, eschewing any responsibility/being or seeming overly immature, overly-indulgent to themselves, roamers who never settle down and can’t commit, preachy to the point of being fanatical, and horrible planners.

When I was designing a cocktail for this feisty, travel-loving fire sign, I knew I wanted it to have Red Bull in it because Sagittarius is usually always on-the-go, ready to drop everything for a last-minute getaway or gallivanting around the world. Because they are energetic and stimulating, an energy drink had to be the base of this cocktail! And because they love travel and never like to stay in one place too long, it had to be something tropical, reminiscent of their next vacay.

It’s a cross between a piña colada and a mojito with a Red Bull twist! The result is a very fruity, tropical and refreshing beverage I think any Sagittarian would love!

Bottoms up!
