If you’re looking for your new fall drink, this Apple Cider Sangria is it! Super flavorful with fresh apple cider, cinnamon whiskey, white wine and sparkling apple juice for a spiked take on a classic fall beverage!
Praise Mother Nature! It’s finally cooling down in Sacramento!
I am so giddy with excitement over the cooler temps. I can officially kick my shorts and swimwear to the curb (bye, won’t miss ya) and embrace fuzzy, cozy sweaters and cute boots.
This time of year is my favorite. Not only does it have my favorite weather and flavors, it is quarter 4 which is my best season for my blog and my favorite seasons all in one!
Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas – but especially Christmas – are my all-time faves. I could literally do without any other holiday but you’ll have to pry my Christmas spirit out of my cold, dead hands.
I always have a small Christmas party every year that I’ve lived in my apartment and I look forward to it all year. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I think my parties are awesome! Everyone always looks happy, leaves full, and enjoys mingling. I usually keep it to people my age who live in my apartment complex so we can all get to know one another. Last year, I even did a “naughty or nice” gift exchange which was hilarious! The premise was, everyone had to bring a white elephant gift that could be naughty (such as adult products, if you catch my drift) or nice (like your standard-issue white elephant gifts). I definitely think I’m going to do it again this year!
I also make an epic charcuterie board and this Apple Cider Sangria. I’ve been making it every year (going on 3 years now!) and it is always the first thing to go. Now I know from experience that I should double or triple the batch! It is that good.
As a huge sangria fan, I’m always looking for unique, seasonal twists on sangria. Long gone are the days of the same ol’ red-wine based sangria. I like to mix it up! This seasonally perfect Apple Cider Sangria is probably my favorite that I’ve made so far. It’s cozy and comforting in a glass, and it couldn’t be easier to make.
It starts with a bottle of white wine – I like to use pinot grigio, but chardonnay or moscato would work! For a cinnamon-y twist, I add in some cinnamon whiskey (such as Fireball) for a little kick! And of course, you definitely need apple cider – I really like Trader Joe’s Spiced Cider, which has notes of apples and pear. It is delicious!
But to add a little sparkly twist, I like topping this sangria off with sparkling apple cider (such as Martinelli’s) just before serving. It brightens it up with some bubbles and really drives home that sweet, apple flavor.
Don’t forget to garnish it with two kinds of apple slices and cinnamon sticks just before serving! I mean, how delicious is this?!
- One bottle pinot grigio (can substitute with chardonnay or Moscato)
- 1 cup cinnamon whiskey (such as Fireball)
- 3 cups apple cider
- One bottle sparkling apple cider (such as Martinelli's)
- One Gala or Fuji apple, sliced
- One Granny Smith apple, sliced
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- Pour the entire bottle of pinot grigio into a large pitcher. Add in the whiskey and apple cider and stir to combine. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour for flavors to meld.
- Just before serving, top off with the sparkling apple cider and add in the sliced apples and cinnamon sticks, stirring to combine. This is best made and served the same day you make it once the fruit has been added.
Sweet, refreshing, crisp cinnamony goodness. You’re going to love this sangria!
Have a super sweet day!
