Thank you for sharing this recipe. I have been searching for one that used frozen cherries and not so much sugar. This recipe filled the need. By thawing the cherries prior to use, like suggested, the base of cherries was not saucy but thick and solid from the cherries and the oatmeal crumble was indeed crisp and crunchy as it cooled.
This recipe has replaced the family cherry crisp that has been used for decades. The family recipe used canned pie filling and a big amount of brown sugar in the oatmeal topping.
Again thank you for sharing this post. Now that Christmas is over I will look through your other recipes to see what catches my eye.

Hi Connie! I am so sorry that you had an issue with this recipe. I will remake with frozen but thawed cherries to see if that helps.

I used frozen cherries as indicated in the recipe. I did not thaw them as that was not mentioned (maybe that's where it all went wrong) Followed directions for ingredients, cook time. Noticed that the filling was bubbling while cooking, however the filling did not set up and was a runny mess. The taste was good but it was a epic failure.
