REESE’S Three Point Popcorn, Slam Dunk Coke Floats & Basketball OREOS for the ULTIMATE Basketball Party!

Host the ULTIMATE Basketball Party with OREO Basketballs, Slam Dunk Coke Floats, and REESE'S Three Point Popcorn! College basketball season is in full swing and I’m sure there will be parties aplenty while everyone roots on their beloved college basketball team.

But sometimes throwing a party can a tad daunting, especially if its a sports-related one. No one sits down and eats a steak dinner during the major tournament, so party food has to be on point for it to be successful, am I right? And chips & dip, while delicious, are kind of predictable. So I’m going to show you how to throw the BEST Basketball Party without all the stress & fuss so you can spend more time eating… or, you know, watching the game ūüôā

First up Рparty planning, obviously. No one just has color-coordinated plates and napkins lying around unless you live inside of a party supply store. I did most of my shopping at Target, where I purchased my ingredients for all of the treats you see above as well. Target has a great party supply selection with tons of different colored plate, napkin, and utensil items, and lots of fun decorations for any theme you could think of. Sports was an obvious one for this party, so I picked up some fun basketball confetti, these cool basketball plates and cups, and the basketball bouncy balls Рparty favors that no kid can resist.

MM1Bonus that all my ingredients were on sale at my local Target! Score!

If you don’t want to go with a generic basketball theme and would rather stick with your favorite college team’s colors, that would be great, too! Or if you know of two particular teams playing one another, you could go with all four colors to make it really festive and spirited.

DSC_0714AI found these super cute orange paper treat boxes and knew I could doctor ’em up really fun for this party. I simply drew on a couple of arches on either side, a line down the middle, and one through the center for a basketball lining’s shape. Easy and SO cute… and of course, the perfect vessel to hold my REESE’S Three Point Shot Popcorn. It’s pretty awesome, you guys…¬†so let’s talk about that for a sec.

3 Point Shot PopcornThis popcorn is the perfect sweet-and-salty treat for munching during the game¬†and it couldn’t be simpler to whip together.¬†I don’t know about you, but when eating something mixed up, like trail mix or chex mix, I’m always searching for my favorite component to eat first, and these REESE’S Peanut Butter Cup Minis are that! They’re so adorable and the perfect miniature size for this popcorn.

(Psst.. if you have Target’s Cartwheel App, there’s a free coupon for REESE’S Peanut Butter Cup Minis available from 3/15-4/4. Download it!)

DSC_0717ANext up? OREO Basketballs! Adorable basketballs made from OREO Cookies. Don’t cringe from intimidation – I promise these are a breeze to make. They do require a little bit of a steadier hand, and a disposable piping bottle, but they’re so worth the smidgen of extra effort. Not only do they look the part, they taste awesome. I mean, who doesn’t enjoy chocolate-covered OREOS? No one, that’s who.

DSC_0738A(BTW, you can find a small piping bottle like this in the baking aisle of most stores, or sometimes even the craft aisle!)

Slam Dunk Coke FloatsLast up: my Slam Dunk Coke Floats. These bad boys are delicious, thanks to Coke Zero. Their motto is ‘you don’t know ZERO ’til you’ve tried it‘ and that’s so true. It tastes just like regular Coke but without all the calories and sugar. And did you know that Coke Zero and Target use special “drinkable” advertising and technology so people can try out Coke Zero for themselves with a free 20 oz coupon? Starting April 2nd, download the Shazam app to participate in these unbelievable experiences at a drinkable TV spot, jumbo-tron, or at

DSC_0723AThese are like your traditional Coke Floats but made with Coke Zero instead. I used fat-free vanilla frozen yogurt for the “dunks” of ice cream, but any icy-cold ice cream will work! They’re the perfect, refreshing way to indulge while watching pivotal, #unbelievablemoments during the game.

DSC_0708AANow back to the spread. Again, I went with a general basketball theme here but team colors would be a fun and festive touch should you throw your own Ultimate Basketball Party. I like to lay all of my components on the same table so guests know where all the good stuff is ūüôā I like putting the packaging behind some items where people may not know what’s what, so as to offer better clarification. You could also put up cute placecards with the food or drink item’s name on it so folks know what they’re eating.

Also, when throwing parties, I don’t like to set out everything I have. Much like a retail shop, I keep some stuff out on the floor and some stuff behind so when something leaves the table, I can replenish it. This keeps the table from looking too full of busy and keeps me working off those calories from all the popcorn I’ve been eating ūüôā

DSC_0731AI also like how everything is arranged on the table and a little scattered about. Don’t get me wrong; I love things tidy and orderly, but having a couple of straws left out (BTW, paper straws are a must!) keeps it lively. Scattering the basketball bouncy balls and plush basketballs about keeps your eye darting around and makes things interesting. And experiment with height – top OREO Basketballs on a medium-sized cake stand, the REESE’S Popcorn in tall treat bags, and use shorter cups for your Coke Floats. It keeps the table balanced, even if there are different shapes and sizes.

But most importantly… Have fun! It’s a freakin’ party, man. And even if your team loses, there’s still Coke Floats to fall back on… and that’s never a bad thing!

Shopping & Saving with Smart & Final!

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #ChooseSmart #CollectiveBias #shop
s6So a couple days ago I had the opportunity to attend a Smart & Final¬†grand opening in a nearby city of Rancho Cordova, CA. Having only ever attended one other store opening in the past (with me being immortalized on TV forever because of it), I was kind of glad there were no TV crews here and that Smart & Final store openings involve food —¬†lots of food ūüôā

If you don’t know, Smart & Final is a self-described “smaller, faster warehouse store” which provides high-quality products and restaurant supply for warehouse prices. And in their more than 85 Smart & Final Extra! stores, they also combine those same high-quality products and restaurant supplies with farmer’s-market fresh produce, low prices of discount grocers and club-sized products of club stores… all without a membership. Woohooooo!

I love that Smart & Final Extra! stores also carry a variety of bulk + smaller portioned goods. Sometimes I just don’t need 80 pounds of beef, but other times I’m really dying for a 50 lb bag of sugar, ya know what I mean? The fact that they offer such a supreme variety of products and sizes helps make my shopping trips easier and less expensive than if I were to have exclusively shopped at another retailer.

s14Let’s talk produce! Smart & Final’s produce section is off-the-chain, dudes. They have every kind of fruit or vegetable you could dream of, but I was especially drawn to their large selection of glossy red, green and yellow apples. And let’s take a gander at the price, shall we?

s152 pounds for $1? That’s a steal-deal right there, folks!

They also have bulk bins, which are my¬†weakness. Sometimes you just don’t need an entire bag of whole wheat flour, or stranger ingredients like chia seeds or flax. Buying them in bulk — with bulk-bin discount prices — makes it so much easier to get the exact amount you need without needlessly wasting extra ingredients or money.

s7And do I really need to go into detail about how much I love this huge variety of Pillsbury products?! Jumbo packs of cookie dough, crescent rolls and cinnamon rolls galore! Swoon.

s8Not to mention, I spotted some fun food finds while perusing this new Smart & Final Extra! store. Like a 2.5 lb bag of crushed Oreo Cookie Pieces?! Dyyyyying. Do you realize how AWESOME this is? No more needing to crush your own Oreo pieces for cookies, cakes, candies or ice cream sundae toppings. This is a great (inexpensive!) investment for bakers like myself who frequently use crushed Oreos in their recipes. Sold!!

s5Or this JUMBO container of rainbow sprinkles? If light-colored rainbow sprinkles aren’t your jam, they also had a “dark rainbow” mix (rainbow sprinkles + chocolate sprinkles), chocolate jimmies, rainbow quinns, rainbow hearts, non-pareils, and crystal sugar sprinkles. And at the astronomical rate in which I devour sprinkles, you bet your bottom dollar I stocked up.

s4Their baking aisle also had all the regular suspects: a large variety of cake mix flavors, frostings, pudding and gelatin mixes, and more, plus bulk bags of cake mix which I should seriously consider investing in. And 50 lb bags of flour and sugar which, let’s be honest, would probably last a week in my house but is worth the money!

s3Even their Quality Meats section impressed me, with superior cuts of beef, economical bulk packs of boneless chicken breasts, and a wide variety of fresh, not frozen, seafood. These NY Strip Steaks were $4.99/lb, but I had spotted thick, beautifully marbled steaks in there for less than $4. I could have fed my entire family for under $20 by purchasing each of us a nearly one-pound NY strip. Insanity, people.

Overall,¬†I was so impressed with this Smart & Final Extra! store! Having not been in a Smart & Final store for years, I wasn’t sure what to expect anymore and they’ve really stepped up their game, offering a ton of brand new products in a variety of sizes and brands, for extremely discounted prices. Everything’s fresh and bright and easy to find, thanks to their large, well-organized aisles and friendly staff. If you have a Smart & Final store nearby, I highly encourage you check it out for some steal deals… and if you don’t, be sure to search for a location near you!

Sparkling Italian Creme Sodas with Canada Dry!

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #AddSparkle #CollectiveBias #Shop

sparklingsodasWhen I was a little girl, my family would occasionally take me out to dinner at this local spaghetti restaurant. ¬†The food was your standard Ragu-type fare — in other words, nothing remotely “Italian.” ¬†But they¬†did have the best Italian Creme Sodas that I looked forward to ordering every time we dined there. ¬†There was something about the combination of the sparkling water¬†combined with that sweet cherry syrup, the smooth cream and the tower of whipped cream that had Lil Hayley hook, line & sinker. ¬†It was probably because it was sweet, a drink topped with whipped cream, and tasted like I was drinking something glittery and sparkly — as a kid, you want to imagine everything you consume is magical. ¬†And with the carbonation, it felt like I was having some mystical fairy drink.

But unlike Lil Hayley, Big Hayley doesn’t have the same metabolism, so drinking typical¬†Italian Creme Sodas on the regular isn’t necessarily diet-friendly *cries.* ¬†But thankfully, I figured out an ingenious way to make my own homemade and lightened-up Italian Creme Sodas at home using new¬†Canada Dry Sparkling Seltzer Water.

Canada Dry’s new Sparkling Seltzer Water has zero calories, zero sodium and zero caffeine. ¬†The Lemon Lime and Triple Berry waters are unsweetened and flavored naturally, and they taste¬†awesome. ¬†They’re such a refreshing, bubbly beverage that is so much more nutritious than your standard carbonated soda. ¬†It’s water…¬†only better.

DSC_0095aAnd this Sparkling Seltzer Water is the base of these lightened-up Italian Creme Sodas. ¬†Simply combine the Canada Dry Sparkling Seltzer Water, a couple Tablespoons of sugar-free flavored syrup, a splash of creme, and ice! ¬†Top with fat-free whipped cream and a cherry or lime wedge if you’d like, and voila! ¬†You’ll be sipping pretty and adding some serious sparkle to your meal in no time ūüôā

Ready to drink like a sparkly fairy princess?!

DSC_0107AThese Sparkling Italian Creme Sodas could¬†not be simpler to make! ¬†They’re light, super refreshing on a hot day, and such a great pick-me-up treat for kids and adults alike! ¬†The Sparkling Seltzer Water tastes phenomenal and those fruity flavors definitely shine in these drinks. ¬†They aren’t cloyingly sweet; just the right amount hits you with a nice, fruity punch and lots of sparkle. ¬†These will surely become a new family favorite!!

I found my Canada Dry Sparkling Seltzer Water’s in the Soda/Flavored Water aisle at my local Walmart. ¬†It was super easy to find and sectioned on an endcap. ¬†Right now, you can save 75 cents off any Canada Dry Sparkling Seltzer Water at Walmart stores — just click HERE!. ¬†Or, if you share the page, you can save $1.75… which is worth it so you can stock up on all four flavors: Original, Lemon Lime, Triple Berry & Pomegranate Cherry!! ¬†Just click the picture below to get your coupon!! ūüôā

Banana Pudding Cupcakes with Cool Whip Pudding Frosting

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #AddCoolWhip #CollectiveBias

bananapuddingcupcakesAs a kid, one of my favorite snacks was Jell-O Pudding Snacks topped with a hefty (and I mean hefty!) dollop of Cool Whip on top.  The ratio was probably one cup Cool Whip to standard-size pudding cup, and frankly, I had dreams of giving myself a Cool Whip facial a la Robin Williams in Mrs. Doubtfire.  Helllooooooo, indeed!

To this day, I¬†still have a soft spot for Cool Whip & Jell-O pudding. ¬†Pudding is such an easy and delicious snack anytime of year, but especially in the summertime when temps are sometimes too high to bake. ¬†It’s rich, satisfying, and so versatile — add in chopped fruits, nuts, candy or baking chips to switch things up, or fold in Cool Whip to create an easy pudding pie.

But for today’s recipe, I’m making one of my¬†favorite frostings to top rich, moist banana cupcakes. ¬†I first discovered this frosting a couple years ago and it instantly became a favorite. ¬†It’s made with Jell-O pudding mix, milk, cream cheese, a little powdered sugar, and of course — Cool Whip. ¬†Combined, these five simple ingredients create a light and fluffy textured frosting that isn’t¬†too sweet (thanks to the cream cheese) but has just the right amount of flavor and sweetness.

DSC_0009AAnd since banana pudding is one of my favorite pudding flavors (what’s not to love?!) I decided to make these outrageously delish Banana Pudding Cupcakes with Cool Whip Pudding Frosting. ¬†They. Are. AWESOME. ¬†Soft and tender cupcakes topped with this scrumptious, easy frosting bursting with banana flavor, then topped off with a fresh banana slice and a vanilla wafer cookie — two key components to a seriously yummy banana pudding.

And if banana pudding isn’t your jam, feel free to make the cupcakes and Jell-O Cool Whip Frosting any flavor you’d like! ¬†Imagine rich, chocolate cupcakes topped with a light chocolate frosting — the almost mousse-like texture would be insanely good! ¬†Or even strawberry frosting on angel food cupcakes for a shortcake effect. ¬†So versatile!

DSC_0011ABut if you’re a banana fiend like myself, you¬†must give these cupcakes a try! ¬†And if nothing else, at least make the frosting and eat it with a spoon! ūüôā

Love Banana Pudding? Then you'll flip for these scrumptious Banana Pudding Cupcakes! The frosting is to-die for and tastes just like the classic pudding dessert!
  • 1 box vanilla cake mix, plus ingredients on back of box
  • 2 boxes Jell-O Instant Banana Cream Pudding mix, divided
  • 1 cup low-fat milk
  • 4 oz (1/2 pkg) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, room temperature
  • ⅓ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tub (8 oz) Cool Whip, thawed
  • Banana slices
  • Vanilla wafer cookies
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line 2 muffin tins with about 16 paper liners. Prepare the cake batter according to package directions. Once the batter has come together, stir in ONE box of the Jell-O banana pudding mix.
  2. Portion the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling cups about ¾th full. Bake for approx. 14-16 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean or with moist crumbs. Cool completely.
  3. While cupcakes cool, prepare your frosting: in a medium bowl, whisk together the remaining box of Jell-O banana pudding and the milk until smooth. Stir in the cream cheese and powdered sugar until combined and minimal clumps remain. Lastly, fold in the Cool Whip until combined. Place the frosting in the fridge to set, about 1 hour.
  4. Once frosting has set & cupcakes have cooled, spoon the frosting into a disposable piping bag affixed with a large open circle tip. Pipe frosting generously onto cooled cupcakes. Garnish each frosted cupcake with a banana slice and vanilla wafer cookie. Serve immediately, or store leftovers covered in the fridge.
  5. If you have remaining frosting, use frosting as pudding! Simply layer remaining frosting in a jar or dish with banana slices and vanilla wafer cookies. Eat as is, or top with hot fudge or caramel sauce.

DSC_0018AI am seriously in love¬†with this fantastic frosting! ¬†It’s so light, so fluffy and¬†so delicious. ¬†I love that it tastes like a lighter banana pudding — almost like eating a cloud of banana deliciousness. ¬†As I mentioned earlier, if you have leftover frosting you can use it as pudding! ¬†Just layer it in a dish or bowl with banana slices and vanilla wafer cookies, or crumble leftover cupcakes on top for a fantastic deconstructed cupcake pudding ūüôā ¬†top with caramel or chocolate sauce if you’re feeling extra fancy!

Want a better-for-you option?  Use Jell-O Sugar Free/Fat Free Pudding mix, fat-free milk, fat-free PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, and Cool Whip Free.  You can also substitute unsweetened applesauce for the oil in your cupcakes, and swap out whole eggs for four egg whites to make your cupcakes a more nutritious option.

jelloooI always go to Walmart for my KRAFT Foods needs — Walmart has the largest¬†selection of Jell-O Pudding Mixes and a great selection of other KRAFT Foods products, like Cool Whip and PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese. ¬†For a limited time, you can now get¬†$1 off¬†when you purchase one (1) tub of Cool Whip and two (2) boxes of Jell-O Pudding, while supplies last. ¬†Just use THIS link for your exclusive coupon!! ¬†And be sure to check out Walmart’s website for more recipes and KRAFT Foods products!

Have a delicious Sunday!!

Vanilla Chai Scones

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #TrendTea #CollectiveBias

vanillachaisconesSo some of you may not know, but I have two younger siblings: a 20 (soon-to-be-21!) year-old brother, and a 16 year-old sister. ¬†And all three of us are thankfully very close — we’d make each other tea when someone was sick, or we would all go to Target and stock up on junk food for Super Mario Bros marathons.

However, my brother Alex decided he had to be all adult-like and grown-up and move out. ¬†He did so this past January, and the house hasn’t been the same without him. ¬†He lives about 6 hours away now *tear* with his adorable girlfriend, Kelsey.

Now, I’ve never moved out before (I know, I know) but I know that most young-adults who have moved out aren’t typically eating the most delicious foods (I’m looking at you, ramen) and I know my brother is suffering from Bland-Food-Syndrome that nearly every college kid suffers from. ¬†If I remember correctly, I¬†do recall him saying they had pasta and Ragu for the past few days in a row… that poor soul.

Both Alex & Kelsey are preparing for their final semesters at the local university, and if I remember anything from college, it was all the late-night studying I did (complete with snacks, of course).  Whether it was writing up flashcards and quizzing myself or typing furiously at my thesis statement, I always needed an edible pick-me-up and I can guarantee Alex and Kelsey could use one, too!

So since both will be up studying late and need all the help they can get, I decided to create some scrumptious scones made from¬†Bigelow Vanilla Chai Tea. ¬†This stuff is¬†so good, y’all. ¬†Bigelow added a creamy vanilla flavor to their hand-picked black tea blend. ¬†It offers the perfect amount of exotic, heart-warming spices making this the ideal sweet & spicy chai tea. ¬†It’s great both iced¬†and hot and tastes even better when baked up in soft & tender cinnamon-spiced scones! ¬†It’ll offer just the right dose of caffeine for their late-night cram sessions¬†and sustenance right before a marathon study-sesh. ¬†The perfect treat!

DSC_0024AIf Vanilla Chai isn’t your jam, don’t fret — Target has a HUGE selection of Bigelow Tea on their tea & coffee aisle. ¬†Constant Comment happens to be one of my faves (also spicy like chai, but a bit more mellow), but I happen to think Earl Grey would be AWESOME in a scone with a simple lemon glaze or perhaps some dried lavender leaves. ¬†Check out your local Target store for a better selection.

bigelowI don’t miss school, but I¬†do wish I had a handful of these tender scones to nosh on throughout my work day. ¬†Think¬†they’ll mind if I kept a couple back? ūüôā

Vanilla Chai Scones {Made with Bigelow Tea -- #TrendTea}
Recipe type: Breakfast
Prep time:
Cook time:
Total time:
Serves: 8
These plush, buttery scones are scented with sweet and spicy vanilla chai from Bigelow Tea -- infused right in the batter! They make for the perfect pick-me-up.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ⅛th tsp ground nutmeg
  • ⅛th tsp ground ginger
  • 6 Tbsp cold butter, cut into small chunks
  • ⅔ cup Bigelow Vanilla Chai tea, brewed & cooled
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup Bigelow Vanilla Chai tea, brewed & cooled
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cream or milk
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • Cinnamon sugar, for topping
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with wax paper or a silicone liner; if using wax paper, mist the paper lightly with cooking spray; set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and spices until combined. Using two forks or a pastry blender, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs or begins to look sandy. Create a well in the center of the mixture.
  3. Add the brewed tea, egg and vanilla and begin mixing until a soft dough forms; do NOT over mix -- this will create a tough scone. Pat the dough into an 8" round circle onto the prepared baking sheet. Lightly score the dough into 8 wedges using the tip of a knife.
  4. Bake the scones for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and fragrant. Allow the scones to cool completely on the pan before cutting them completely along the score lines.
  5. In a small bowl, combing the remaining brewed tea, vanilla extract and milk with the powdered sugar until a soft glaze forms -- you want it to be thick enough to stick to the scones but still runny enough to drizzle -- add more powdered sugar or cream/tea if needed.
  6. Drizzle the glaze on top of the scones and immediately top with cinnamon sugar. Allow the glaze to set, about 5 minutes, before serving. Store leftovers airtight, at room temperature.

DSC_0032AThese scones have become¬†my new favorite breakfast treat! ¬†They’re so perfectly spiced, thanks to the hearty sweet & spicy flavor from Bigelow’s Vanilla Chai Tea. ¬†You can taste the tea in these buttery, perfectly plush scones, and I love the simple tea glaze on top with the crunch of the cinnamon sugar dusting. ¬†So irresistible!

I packed these bad boys up with some other Bigelow Tea samplings & a Target gift card for Alex & Kelsey and sent the scones & the recipe on their way up north. ¬†They should arrive any day now, and I can’t wait for my brother and his girlfriend to have a heart-warming taste of home in their new home ūüôā plus, with the other flavors of Bigelow Tea so they can make their own scones at home by experimenting with some new flavors!

Dark Chocolate Cranberry Bliss Blondie Bars #LoveDoveFruits

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #CollectiveBias #LoveDoveFruits

darkchoccranberryblissOne of my favorite flavor combinations has to be fruit + chocolate.

Just think about it: bananas & chocolate. ¬†Raspberry & chocolate. ¬†Lemon & white chocolate. ¬†Strawberries & dark chocolate. ¬†So many options, people! ¬†It’s impossible to resist chocolate covered fruit — one, because it’s¬†fruit which makes it¬†healthy, and two, because chocolate.

But in all seriousness — fruit and dark chocolate are both really good for you. ¬†Dark chocolate has antioxidants and other magical powers, and fruit boasts tons of nutrients. ¬†Combined together, you have a delicious, better-for-you treat that you can feel good about indulging in ūüôā

doveeSo when I spotted new¬†Dove¬ģ Fruit Whole Cranberry at Sam’s Club, I knew I wanted to snack senselessly on it¬†and create something with it. ¬†Each juicy, plump cranberry is surrounded by a luscious layer of dark chocolate. ¬†They’re perfectly poppable, seriously delicious and taste so rich & indulgent, but are actually a decently¬†nutritious, on-the-go snack. ¬†(Plus, they’re at Sam’s Club so they conveniently came in a super-sized bag — more snacking for me! Yay!)

And in case you didn’t know, cranberry + dark chocolate will soon become your new favorite fruit + chocolate pairing. ¬†The tartness of the berries and the smooth richness of the chocolate make for an addictive snack. ¬†And in addition to a delish snack? ¬†These¬†Dove¬ģ Fruit Whole Cranberry bites make for a great star in these¬†Dark Chocolate Cranberry Bliss Blondie Bars. ¬†

DSC_1007AYou’ve had those Starbucks Cranberry Bliss bars, right? ¬†They usually pop up around the holiday season, but I happen to think cranberries are delightful year-round and I tend to get hankerings often, so I make them throughout the seasons. ¬†These bars are¬†very similar to the Starbucks version, but instead of regular cranberries, they’re filled and topped with chopped¬†Dove¬ģ Fruit Whole Cranberry. ¬†The result is a soft and chewy brown-sugary blondie filled with juicy chocolate-covered cranberries and white chocolate chips, then topped with a seriously yummy cream cheese icing, more tart chocolate-covered cranberries and some extra dried cranberries to amp up that sweet-tart flavor.

In other words? ¬†They’re¬†simply awesome. ¬†And the¬†Dove¬ģ Fruit Whole Cranberry¬†has very limited availability in Sam’s Club stores, so you¬†have to track down a bag (or four) and stock up! ¬†And um:¬†blondies filled with chocolate-covered cranberries. ¬†Need I say more?!

These copycat Starbucks Cranberry Bliss Bars have a delicious twist, using Dove¬ģ Fruit Whole Cranberry to add some scrumptious, better-for-you chocolate-covered cranberries to the mix. You won't be able to stop at one!
  • 2 sticks butter, melted
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 & ¾ cups Dove¬ģ Fruit Whole Cranberry, roughly chopped & divided
  • ¾ cup white chocolate chips
  • 4 oz (1/2 pkg) cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pkg white chocolate chips
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup dried cranberries
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Liberally grease a 13x9" baking pan with cooking spray; set aside.
  2. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine the melted butter and brown sugar together with a spoon. Stir in the eggs + vanilla extract to combine. Add in the flour, baking soda and salt until a batter comes together. Stir in ¾ cup of the chopped Dove¬ģ Fruit Whole Cranberry and the ¾ cup of white chocolate chips. Spread the mixture into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake for approx. 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and just about set in the center. Cool the bars completely.
  4. To prepare the frosting, melt the remaining package of white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl on HIGH heat for 30 seconds; stir until smooth. Remove about ¼th of the white chocolate to a smaller bowl; set aside. To the remaining melted white chocolate, add in the cream cheese, vanilla and powdered sugar and beat with an electric mixer for about a minute or until fluffy and soft.
  5. Spread the frosting on top of the blondies in an even layer. Immediately top with the remaining chopped Dove¬ģ Fruit Whole Cranberry pieces and the dried cranberries. Gently press the toppings into the frosting. Take the remaining reserved white chocolate and drizzle it on top for a garnish. Allow the bars to set for about 20 minutes before cutting into squares (or triangles, like I did). Serve!

DSC_0003ACreamy, chewy, sweet, tart and absolutely delicious — the¬†Dove¬ģ Fruit Whole Cranberry is undeniably the star here in these indulgent blondie bars! ¬†The dark chocolate adds a depth of creamy richness to the brown sugary blondies, and the juicy, fresh cranberries inside add that pop of brightness and a slight tartness which offsets that sweetness beautifully. ¬†Combined with the slight tang of the cream cheese icing and the chewiness of the dried cranberries sprinkled on top, these bars offer amazing flavor¬†and texture — and are gorgeous to boot!

Be sure to pick up your own bag of¬†Dove¬ģ Fruit Whole Cranberry at your nearest Sam’s Club store — and remember, they’re only available for a limited time! ¬†In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled for¬†Dove¬ģ Fruit Whole Cherry, which hits stores soon (um, chocolate + cherry =¬†yes please). ¬†Thanks for indulging with me today!!

Have a scrumptious day!!

Summer Fun With Fruttare Fruit Bars! #itsallgood

‚ÄúThis shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group¬ģ and Fruttare, but all my opinions are my own. #itsallgood #pmedia ¬†‚ÄĚ #itsallgood #pmedia #ad

fruttareHey friends!

Summer is in full swing, as I’m sure your AC bill can attest. ¬†And with the rise in temps, sometimes finding something sweet¬†and satisfying is hard to do. ¬†The idea of turning on the oven when it’s over 100 degrees outside? ¬†Yeahnothanks.

So what’s a hungry girl to do? ¬†Snack on frozen treats, that’s what! ¬†Especially healthy frozen treats, like¬†Fruttare Fruit Bars!

Fruttare Fruit Bars are my new favorite summertime (or, let’s be honest, anytime) treat! ¬†Their delicious fruit and milk bars are a great way to cool off on a hot day or satisfy your sweet tooth. ¬†And they’re made with¬†real fruit that you can taste in every bite. ¬†No artificial strawberry popsicles here! ¬†Real deal — no wonder their motto is It’s All Good!

Since my oven is off limits when the temps push past 90, I always make sure I have fruit bars on hand that we can snack on. ¬†And since discovering Fruttare myself, I decided to have a small family get-together once my brother visited town featuring Fruttare’s awesome, fruity lineup of delectable frozen bars! ¬†I bought some of my favorite flavors, served ’em up after dinner, and everyone snacked on them while we played endless rounds of Apples to Apples. ¬†Best part? ¬†Minimal prep-work (starts and ends at opening each package!), easy cleanup (as in — no cleanup!) and everyone was pleased with their tasty, fruity bars.

You can serve them up family style, like this…

DSC_0637AOr serve them up individually in cups of ice, like this…

DSC_0646AI loved featuring the Fruttare Fruit Bars next to fresh fruit — not only did it make for a beautiful, organic presentation, but it also helped us identify which bar flavor was which!

DSC_0647APlus, doesn’t it look gorgeous when the fruit bars are nestled in cups of ice with pieces of real fruit swirled throughout? ¬†Beautiful!

To make the bars last longer, just freeze the baking sheet or glasses for a good hour or two until super cold, then top with a thin layer of ice (if they’ll be out for awhile) or place them straight on the sheet or in the ice-glasses. ¬†Easy peasy!

Fruttare Fruit Bars come in phenomenal flavors like Mango, Pineapple, Strawberry, Black Cherry & Lime, and Fruit & Milk bars, which come in flavors like Strawberry & Milk, Mixed Berry & Milk, Banana & Milk, Coconut & Milk and more!  My favorite Milk bar was the Strawberry & Milk, but my favorite bar of all was the Black Cherry!  Look how gorgeous, fresh and delicious this Fruit Bar looks!

DSC_0657ABest of all, after¬†losing miserably at Apples to Apples (hey, we can’t always be winners), cleanup from this Fruit Bar Party was a breeze. ¬†I rinsed out the cups and the baking sheet, popped it in the dishwasher, and was done. ¬†LOVE that.

And love that they’re guiltless enough to eat more than one! ūüôā

DSC_0651aFruttare can be found nationwide in a variety of different stores (I personally found mine at Target¬†and they were on sale — score!) where I found the best selection of flavors (the ones I purchased were Lime, Black Cherry, Strawberry & Milk and Banana & Milk) but you can also find them at Walmart, Safeway, Nugget, Bel-Air, Kroger, CVS and more!

And be sure to connect with Fruttare on their website and on Facebook for news, events, updates & more!

Have a fruitastical day! ūüôā

Dinner at BJ’s Restaurant — Featuring The New BJ’s Dine In Order Ahead App with Mobile Pay!

‚ÄúThis shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group¬ģ and BJ‚Äôs Restaurants, but all my opinions are my own. #DineInOrderAhead #pmedia ¬†‚ÄĚ #DineInOrderAhead #PMedia #ad

1Have you heard of BJ’s Restaurant? ¬†I’m¬†sure you have. ¬†BJ’s Restaurants are popping up everywhere, but even first-timers have to know about their signature infamous Pizookie (a pizza cookie, for you mere mortals). ¬†BJ’s Restaurant is easily one of my top places for lunches or dinners.

So when I was invited to try out BJ’s Restaurant’s new¬†Dine-In, Order Ahead Mobile App, I was stooooooked! ¬†One, because I love their Pizookies (and pizza. and drinks. and everything else) and¬†two because BJ’s Restaurants is kinda sorta revolutionizing the way you eat. ¬†Download it HERE (for iPhone) or HERE (for Android). ¬†Allow me to explain.

BJ’s Restaurants Mobile App has three cool new features that I was so happy to test out. ¬†The first is the Dine-In, Order Ahead¬†part of the app. ¬†This feature allows the BJ’s Mobile App users to place your order in advance with the touch of your phone! ¬†Simply scroll through their extensive, complete menu, make your selections, and schedule when you’re set to come in.

DSC_0572ASee how many options there are already? ¬†And you haven’t even clicked on anything!

I’m a fan of their Enlightened Entrees, which has a great selection of lighter fare that’s still hearty on flavor. ¬†I chose their Honey Lime Scallops which is one of my favorite dishes! ¬†SO much flavor! ¬†After selecting the item you want, you’ll be taken to a page where you can confirm your entire order. ¬†I took my dad out to dinner this night, so both of our orders (including our appetizer and drinks!) were listed… you know, in case you completely abandon the healthy eating altogether and want to switch to a deep dish pizza ūüôā

1111The second awesome feature is the¬†Preferred Waitlist. ¬†If you use BJ’s Restaurants new Mobile App, you can select to be put on their Preferred Waitlist which informs the restaurant of your party size, anticipated arrival, and helps keep your party at the front of the waitlist once you’re at the restaurant. ¬†My dad and I selected the Preferred Waitlist for our visit and were seated instantly — on a Thursday evening!

Once we got to the restaurant and were seated right away (woohoo for Preferred Waitlist!) our host placed a receipt on our table. ¬†When I looked closer, it was actually our entire order to hand off to the server. ¬†No need for menus or looking over anything — we were ready to go, and this cut out the whole waiting-for-everyone to decide on a meal fiasco that¬†always happens when dining out. ¬†Having our order totally complete right there was a huge time-saver, and would be even more ideal for larger parties.

2The third feature of the new Mobile App is the¬†Mobile Pay feature. ¬† Once you get seated, your order is immediately put into the computer, so the kitchen immediately starts preparing your meal. ¬†Once this happens, the Mobile App registers that you’re dining within the restaurant and your order pops back up into the App. ¬†When your meal is complete, you simply log into your app and begin the payment process. ¬†It’s as easy as 1-2-3.

Within the Mobile Pay portion of the app, you can select and enter card information securely, adjust the tip accordingly on a sliding scale (makes it so easier!) and lastly, authorize your signature by drawing your signature onto your phone — no stylus, just your finger. ¬†Hit Submit, and you’re done!

BJ’s Restaurant’s new Dine-In, Order Ahead & Mobile Pay Mobile App made my dining experience¬†so much easier. ¬†No waiting, seamless seating, ordering and payment which made it simpler and allowed me time to focus on hanging out with my dad. ¬†The App is incredibly streamlined and foolproof — I highly recommend it to anyone! ¬†But then again, why would you need a recommendation to BJ’s Restaurant when they’re known for amazing goodies like¬†this. ¬†A white chocolate chip macadamia nut Pizookie? ¬†Hubba hubba.

Come. To. Mama. ¬†They top all their Pizookies with a huge, healthy scoop (or two!) of delicious ice cream. ¬†The vanilla bean ice cream + the gooey, buttery white chocolate & macadamia cookie? ¬†Heaven.¬† Thankfully, my dad was full from his meal or else I would have had to share! ūüôā

7Doesn’t this Cobb Salad look phenom? ¬†My dad wanted something lighter, and this salad definitely delivered while still being hearty. ¬†Topped with chunks of turkey and salty bacon, cheese and avocado and¬†lots of dressing. ¬†Yum!

4He also ordered some hot wings which were delicious! ¬†Can’t go wrong with a tasty, crispy Buffalo wing! ¬†BJ’s Restaurant serves theirs up with a hefty dose of the yummiest bleu cheese dressing.

5And my Honey Lime Scallops? ¬†PHENOM.¬† You guys — these scallops are the! ¬†So flavorful, cooked perfectly, and topped with this yummy, simple tomato salad, then served alongside brown rice and roasted asparagus.

66And this salad? ¬†A¬†must try. ¬†It had gorgonzola, toasted walnuts and pears on it — and it was incredible. ¬†Highly recommend this salad for a tasty opener to any of their entrees!

And of course.. that Pizookie.

9I mean, this is one thing you have to order. ¬†SO GOOEY! ¬†And can we talk about those vanilla bean flecks for a sec? ¬†HEAVENNNNN, Y’ALL.

So, what did we learn today from this handy-dandy lesson? ¬†That you mustmustmust download BJ’s Restaurant’s new Mobile App, Dine-In, Order Ahead & Mobile Pay! ¬†It is the bomb diggity! ¬†You can download it HERE for Apple and HERE for Android phones; easy peasy! ¬†And you MUST try out their new awesome Mobile App features. ¬†With my dad and I, the order ahead feature was AWESOME, but it would be such a life & time-saver with larger parties. ¬†Simply pass the phone around, everyone places their order, and there’s no fussing with menus once you arrive. ¬†It cannot be simpler or more convenient!

Be sure to connect with BJ’s Restaurant online or if you want more information about current specials, news, or to find a BJ’s Restaurant near you. ¬†You can also connect to them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Google+. ¬†And for the love of Pizookie,¬†download that App!!

Have a fantastical day!

Caramel Coconut Crunch Cheesecake #Cookies2Crunch with NESTL√Ȭģ CRUNCH¬ģ Girl Scouts¬ģ Cookie Bars!

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #CollectiveBias

crunchcheesecakeThe problem with Girl Scout Cookies (besides the fact that they contain calories)?

That they aren’t available year round!

Those girls sure know how to keep the general public hankering for Thin Mints the other three seasons of the year.  Those scheming kids.  *shakes fist*

So you can imagine my sheer delight when I spotted these NESTL√Ȭģ CRUNCH¬ģ Girl Scouts¬ģ¬†Cookie Candy Bars at my local Walmart! ¬†Take a minute to let that sink into your brain. ¬†Girl Scout Cookie Candy Bars. ¬†Candy bars. ¬†You read it correctly, friend. ¬†I pinched myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming in the middle of a Walmart, too. ¬†Probably wouldn’t have been the first time I’ve dreamt about Walmart, either —¬†but that’s another story for another time.

crunch111Anywho, these are candy bars that taste identical to the three most popular Girl Scout Cookie flavors: Peanut Butter Creme, Caramel Coconut, and Thin Mints¬ģ. ¬†And since I noticed the box threatened that these candy bars are a¬†limited edition (eeek, they’re only available through the summertime!) I picked up multiples of each flavor. ¬†Hey, if there’s one thing I know for certain, it’s that none of these candy bars will go to waste in my home.

DSC_0712ABut one stood out of the pack — my ray of sunshine, the Caramel Coconut. ¬†I cannot¬†resist the tempting sweetness of coconut or the creamy, buttery lusciousness of caramel, so I knew I had to take this Caramel Coconut Candy Bar to the extreme, cheesecake style.

The result? ¬†Hubba hubba. ¬†My life? ¬†It’s complete.

No longer will I have to pine for my Girl Scout cookie fix! ¬†These¬†NESTL√Ȭģ CRUNCH¬ģ Girl Scouts¬ģ Candy Bars are the¬†perfect solution for your Girl Scout cookie hankering. ¬†And this pie? ¬†The perfectest excuse in all of the excuses to buy a box (or two!) of the Caramel Coconut flavor. ¬†One bite, man — you’ll be hooked.

That scheming Hayley.  *shakes fist at self*

Host a Game Night with Tony’s Pizza!

‚ÄúThis post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with¬†Pollinate Media Group‚ĄĘ and¬†Tony‚Äôs Pizza, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #tonyspizzeria‚ÄĚ #ad

tonysI love themed parties and have loved themed parties for as long as I can remember.

This probably explains why my birthday was my favorite holiday growing up (no joke). ¬†I¬†loved the fact that I could customize my birthday party theme to whatever I wanted — smiley face theme, pirate theme, cowgirl theme, spa theme… you catch the drift.

To this day, I still have an affinity for themed parties. ¬†Swim parties, Hawaiian BBQ parties, ugly Christmas sweater parties… the list goes on! ¬†However, one of my favorite,¬†easy party ideas is¬†game night. ¬†One, because it’s laid back — no attire requirements, no real need to RSVP; two, because games bring people together (or tear y’all apart, depending on what you’re playing!) and everyone always has a blast; and three, did I mention they’re EASY?! ¬†Seriously. ¬†Break out the board games, card games and charades and you’re good to go.

DSC_0240AAnd one of my favorite party foods (and foods in general)? ¬†PIZZA! ¬†I love the stuff. ¬†But ordering in pizzas for a party can be pricey. ¬†My favorite game-night staple? ¬†Tony’s Pizza!

Tony’s Pizza has been a favorite of my family for as long as I can remember. ¬†I loved snacking on it for lunches and dinners as a kid and teen, and love it just as much nowadays, too. ¬†Tony’s Pizza has one of the best crusts around — thin and crispy with the perfect crunch — which gives it that great, authentic pizzeria taste. ¬†Plus, it’s made with real tomato sauce, real cheese and quality ingredients, making it as close to the pizza parlor as possible.

DSC_0243APlus, Tony’s Pizza as a consolation prize after you get slaughtered at Monopoly? ¬†It’s a win, my friends.

This game night set-up is super easy to create.  Master the perfect game night in these simple steps!

1. Take inventory of your games. ¬†Have any rogue tokens or dice lying around? ¬†Great! ¬†Sprinkle these pieces around your tablescape to help set the tone. ¬†Or do what I did and use an old board game as the centerpiece for your table! ¬†Arrange your food in decorative bowls/plates on top of the board game — I served my Tony’s Pizza up on cake stands and placed the stands on top of a vintage Monopoly board.

DSC_0241A2. Set out plenty of games to play.  Depending on your number of guests depends on who will play what.  Larger groups may want to break off and do their own thing, but having variety is key.

3. Buy some old fashioned sodas in glass bottles and arrange them around the buffet table.  The vintage feel of the sodas looks awesome and playful against the game set-up.

4. Consider playing your dessert — at tic-tac-toe, that is! ¬†Buy chocolate and vanilla sandwich cookies and use them to play Tic-Tac-Toe with another friend. ¬†Winner gets both flavors ūüôā you could also substitute pretzels, nuts, M&M’s by color, or even gumballs.

5. Serve a decent variety of finger foods so people can enjoy their games without the fuss of utensils. ¬†Tony’s Pizza is perfect for this! ¬†Just bake, slice, and serve! ¬†You don’t even need to traditionally slice them into wedges — consider slicing them into strips and serving them in cups like sticks. ¬†You could even serve up small cups of dipping sauces, like ranch, buffalo, or more marinara!

However you roll it, Tony’s Pizza is sure to be a win at your next game night!

DSC_0245ABe sure to connect with Tony’s Pizza online for news & info on their website, Facebook, and Twitter! ¬†Tony’s Pizza also has a fantastic coupon on where you can save 75 cents on any TWO Tony’s Pizzas, while supplies last. ¬†Be sure to download your coupon HERE to save!! ¬†[FYI, I bought my Tony’s Pizza at Walmart, along with my bottled sodas — the entire bill was under $15 for a game night of 5! ¬†Talk about a steal deal!]

Have a fantastically fun game night, friends! ¬†And BTW, I challenge all of you to a round of Crazy 8’s ūüôā
