Hi Lara, if they were piped out, the royal icing may not set up as well as it gets into the crevices of the piped parts of the cookie, but it should work otherwise!

So happy I found this recipe. Made them years ago and could never find an exact replacement.
This recipe is so good that these were the only Christmas present my MIL would ask for.
It’s definitely a Christmas tradition although if I make them too early I have to make more. My daughter always says be sure to make extra. Everyone loves them!
