January was such a busy month that I combined January and February together – hope ya don’t mind 🙂
First of all, January was my birthday month – and my sister’s birthday, and my grandma’s birthday. It’s a pretty hoppin’ month for birthdays in the Parker family! However, for my 29th birthday on January 24, I decided to take myself to Paris for the very first time with a little extended couple of days in London, too. I cannot recommend either of those places enough – they were AMAZING and I am so glad I went.
To answer some questions, yes, I went alone, and no, I wasn’t scared. I think the key to traveling alone is to always be very aware of your surroundings by not having distractions like headphones in or always being on your phone. Act like a local, not like a tourist. Walk with purpose, like you have somewhere to be. And kinda put on a bitchy face – I always walk with attitude like I have somewhere to go and give off a bitchy vibe so people won’t try to mess with me and it has worked numerous places, from the Caribbean to Europe and major US cities.
In Paris I ate a TON of food – so many macarons! – went shopping, went to museums, took a walking pastry tour and took a cooking class and everything was incredible. I love history, so seeing these incredible old buildings (on our walking tour she pointed out a building from the 1200’s!!) was such a treat since everything in America is so new. I also enjoyed the food SO much and learned a ton, namely that croissants are actually Viennese! Who would’ve known?!
I’ll share some more about my cooking class/walking tour in another post so you can get some tips if and when you travel to Paris, so stay tuned for that!
In the meantime, it’s time for links I’m loving! As always, feel free to leave some links in the comments of things you’re loving!

My deserted island pick would be a foam roller, 100%. This collapsible one was ESSENTIAL for my trip to Europe! Packs flat and saves so much space.
Instead of lugging my huge computer, I brought my Kindle and THIS Bluetooth keyboard which was a life-saver for answering your comments during my trip.
Berets are my latest fave fashion accessory and these are so affordable and come in a ton of colors!
I pretty much exclusively wore these boots in Europe and had zero issues – they were so comfortable!
Just finished this chilling book from FBI profiler John E Douglas. Highly recommend!
Also thoroughly enjoyed this horrifying true crime story of a terror mom.
Now I’m reading this fascinating yet hilarious tale about outer space from one of my favorite authors, Mary Roach.
And next I’m going to read her book on science tackling the afterlife!
This dishy mystery-esque book also sounds right up my alley!
I’ve been obsessed with coveralls lately and I absolutely adore the kind by Big Bud Press!
Also dyinnngggg for this jumpsuit with dogs (!!!!) all over it!
Never thought I’d say this but I’m jonesing after a pair of cropped flare jeans like these Madewell ones.
I picked up this balm lipstick in London and LOVE it. It gives me just the right amount of color.
And last but not least, my monthly “splurge” where if I had the $$ (and no bills!) I would splurge on this DREAMY bag from Gucci. The rainbow colors and stars are heaven!
That’s it for this month! Have a fantastic February!
