I’m sorry I’ve been MIA for awhile on my Rebel Favorites posts! December was all about Christmas craziness and January was my birthday month (yes, month) and I was celebrating a little too hard, ha!
So what’s new?!
Well, as previously mentioned, January 24 was my 28th birthday. I went to the spa for the majority of the day and got a 90 minute massage and a 60 minute facial. Spa days are my favorite because I’ve never spent money on a massage and regretted it. They’re always the best, even the “worst” massages I’ve gotten. I also went to dinner with my parents since my siblings were out of town. We went to my favorite Chinese restaurant here in Sacramento called Fats. They have these honey walnut prawns that are to DIE for, and the most amazing banana cream pie. I definitely indulged!
And I think I indulged a little too much leading up to and directly after my birthday, because I got diagnosed with gastritis. It’s no fun! Thankfully, it went away pretty quickly and I was back to normal. But then a week later I was back into the doctor’s office because I had the worst shoulder pain EVER. Turns out I have a compressed cervical nerve in my neck. (Because of course I do. *eyeroll*). However, the next day it was gone. Does that happen to anyone else? I feel like I’ll be in excruciating pain or I’ll be sick as a dog and the second I go to the doctor’s office, I feel better or the symptoms are so mild compared to the day before. It makes me feel like I made it up or something, or that tattling about my problems to a professional suddenly makes them better? Lol, who knows. But the shoulder pain came back a few days later, so I guess I wasn’t crazy!
Mannie and Jack had a routine dental cleaning a couple days ago that turned into extensive oral surgery for Mannie. Poor babe had some bad teeth, so they had to be extracted and now he has swollen chipmunk cheeks! He looks like I did when I had my wisdom teeth removed – all puffy and round. But he’s being spoiled with soft foods – his fave, cottage cheese! – for 2 weeks, so he doesn’t seem pretty upset.
But now things are back to normal for the foreseeable future, anyway. I’m starting to develop some springtime/St Patrick’s Day/Easter recipes for you guys, so stay tuned! Hopefully it isn’t too freezing or snowy where you are and you can embrace the spring recipes with me!
Now let’s talk about some things I am loving this month!!
OBSESSED with all things rainbow, especially this dress.
…as well as this comfy dress, too!
Reading this right now and it’s funny and brilliant for any self-help skeptics.
…and I just finished this book for Valentine’s Day – all about how love drives people mad. Very interesting and creepy!
I also really enjoyed this collection of strange, unsettling and somewhat creepy short stories.
And next up, I’m thinking about reading this poignant tale of mental illness among sisters. Great reviews!
Fashion related, I’m trying to get into hats and am loving berets on me! These ones are so affordable and have amazing colors!
LOVE the color on these fun slides!
I just tried this face oil in my Allure beauty box and I LOVE it. I didn’t think I’d like face oils, but this one is so lightweight, absorbs quickly and leaves my skin so soft and bouncy!
DYING over this!
And this looks insane.
I don’t cook much for myself, but I made this mushroom stroganoff a few weeks ago and it was AMAZING.
Definitely want to faceplant!
Stop it right now and give me this!
Literally need these for my upcoming cruise!
Speaking of cruises, I mock-packed using these compression bags and they’re life-changing! I fit ALL of my crap into just a carry-on for a 7-day cruise (!!)
And for my monthly “splurge”: this month, in a dream world and if I ever had the funds, I would totally be getting these KILLER shoes. The studs! The Mary-Jane style! The patent leather! They’re perfect and so droolworthy… but alas, the same price as my rent. Hence why I said in a dream world 😉
As always, leave me links of what you’re loving this month as well! Any great books you’ve read recently? Great shows you’ve seen? What’d you think of the Oscar winners? Let me know in the comments!
Have a fantastic weekend!
