Hey y’all, it’s Friday.
Not that you didn’t know that already… I’m not underestimating your intelligence or anything, I swear.
Just bears repeating: it’s Friday, bitches. Thank god.
This week was busy for me because I had errands, dates, appointments and lots of work.
But somehow, I managed to squeeze in a little time to hit up the Victoria’s Secret Semi-Annual sale and snag some clearance goodies, watch RHOC and wish desperately I can fly to Bora Bora within the next five minutes, and make some awesome goodies, of course.
But I’m actuallllly going to feature some kick-ass Father’s Day recipes for you to make for your pop. These recipes are Dad-Approved from my (very un-picky) taste-tester dad, but ones I know he loves the most. I guarantee yours will, too!
First of all, anything with Bugles, candy, or peanut butter is aces in my dad’s book. This snack mix is no exception, obvi.
My dad is the only other one in our house who loves coconut as much as I do. And honestly, these cupcakes were LIFE.CHANGING. We won’t shut up about them.
Again with the coconut (I asked my dad of his favorites and he literally listed ALL coconut–the man is my father, no question), he loves these easy bites I made awhile back.
My dad loves his ice cream and inhaled all of this (I only got what was in this picture, sadly).
I can attest that these (highly addictive) donut muffins are requested every weekend in my house. EVERY. WEEKEND. Plus, they’re easy and 4 ingredients.
Likewise, my dad is a big candy fan. Actually, I don’t know why I’m explaining what he likes. The “don’t like” list is far shorter, and it actually includes Oreo cookies (yes, it is weird). However, he has a soft spot for Samoas, and these cookie cups were no exception to that rule!
Again with the candy… it’s neverending.
That grandma I always talk? That’s my dad’s mom. If we were raised on Twinkies, Nutty Bars and Circus Animal Cookies, you can bet your booty he was, too. Twinkie Cupcakes rock.
Uhhhhh… self explanatory.
Annnnnd Snickers. What dude doesn’t flip for snickers?!
Oh, and when in doubt, BBQ stuff works great!
Well, those are my dad-approved recipes–among about 98% of the rest of my Recipe Index (really, you can’t go wrong). And thankfully, my index is categorized by dessert type and flavor, so if your pop prefers peanut butter, scroll to the Peanut Butter section and go click-happy with all the links. I know you’ll find something.
So, uh, back to Real Housewives of Orange County, wasn’t Bora Bora drool-worthy? I watched it while eating a Fudgsicle and wishing I was in one of those huts with a coconut bra and a bag full of pearls. For a brief moment, I was temporarily transported to the tropics–the wind in my hair, the ocean lapping against my feet–until I opened my eyes and realized I was in my ratty pajamas sitting in front of the window blasting hot 100 degree air in my face while our family dog, Oreo, was grossly giving me foot kisses. Ugh.
Also, that episode also made me realize I really hate “mad hatter” cakes. You know–the topsy turvy ones? So. Not. Cute. (Sorry).
A couple days ago I was feeling thirsty and lazy (a bad bartending combination, lemme tell you) so I threw some Midori into my 15-calorie lemonade and hallelujah, I have a new fave drink. Let’s just say my full bottle has decreased to mere droplets because I have been indulging in my lazy spiked lemonade a lot.
And a lot of this:
There’s a shaved ice trailer in our town and Jessie and I are there every.dang.day. It doesn’t help that their flavors (that’s godzilla above–banana & tiger’s blood) and their prices ($2 for that gigantic “lunch” size) are awesome. But since it is ICE, it obviously has no calories.
Not surprisingly, my brief scheme of working out has already begun to slack off what with my sudden interest in Pretty Little Liars. I read the books a couple summers ago and haven’t seen one episode of the show, but I’m quickly realizing my TV list is quite small and I’d like to increase it greatly (so far, my only “must watch” shows are RHOC, RHBH, The Soup, Top Chef (when it’s on), Food Network Star, Triple D, and Top Model, only because I have a hard time believing Tyra is real life. But now, suddenly, I want to include PLL in on this list. The acting seems sub-par, but the books were good and what can I say, I’m obsessed with living vicariously through spoiled rich females.
And I feel super bad because I tooootally forgot about BNB (Breaking News in Blogland) last week and neglected all y’all in favor of yapping about me, me and me (though, what else is new?). So here’s a bunch of awesome stuff I’ve spotted around the interwebs that I think you’ll like:
Chicken Tamale Casserole from Buns in my Oven

Good For You Cookie Dough Dip from Back For Seconds
