Nat — good idea with the brushing! I should try that, or using the butter “spray” to see if I can get similar results for a lower cal muffin 🙂 but in the meantime, go big!!

So I have made these…several times. And they are delicious!! I thought that just brushing the pieces with butter would work fine, as dunking them in butter seemed like an awful lot of extra calories. But I’ve made them both ways and your way is definitely better. The pieces hold together and, of course, it tastes better too! I mean go big or go home, right? Thanks!!!

In reply to Jackie. Hi Jackie! Sorry for the confusion!! What I meant was that after you separate the middle section of the crescent rolls (the main seam) into two separate portions, you need to divide those portions in half to make FOUR rectangular sections. Then pinch the perforations together, and proceed cutting each section into four strips length-wise and then in half, creating 8 pieces per section for a total of 32 dough balls... am I right? That would make 8 muffins. So sorry for the confusion, I'm fixing the recipe as we speak. Thank you for your question!!

Quick question…if you have 2 sections of 4 strips each that turn in to 8 pieces (16 pieces total between the 2 sections), how do you get 8 muffins when each cup has 4 pieces in it? It seems to me that with 1 can of cresent rolls, you only end up with 4 muffins. What am I missing or calculating wrong?
